Hi, Do any of you think we will have the Euro by the end of this year in the Uk? I know they need time to change everything etc, What are your throughts?

I hope it never comes, people will oppose it. It seems it's only the politicians that want it, leave my currency be.

No, and went David Cameron comes in, the idea will be utterly scrapped from all contemplation.
If the Pound goes then so does a large part of British tradition.

Ever just thought the Euro is on the verge of a landslide instead? If the pound is on the down currently, then that tends to mean it'll rise again soon, and vice versa to the Euro.Quote:

When/If we change to the Euro people will no doubt lose money, when we decimalised our currency they were able to raise prices on products which results in things being a lot more expensive without anyone knowing and as things are already very expensive here it'll be a big hit on people's bank accounts.
In some aspects definitely, but a sense of tradition is valuable; the monarchy, architecture, government and certainly our currency are a part of our history and should be protected. I'm sure some will disagree with that but I believe it (Although the civil list pisses me off :P).Quote:

£1 = 1.26856€ at the moment so if he's waiting for £1 = 1€ it shouldn't take too long
I live in a country where the euro has been brought in, that country is Ireland :P.
When it was first intruduced, everyone was like o no were loosing our currency and it will take a long time to get used to the euro. soon enough everyone started using it, and diddent think a any more about it.
Using the euro also has its benifits, as its accecpted in most europeian countrys, so you know what youre spending in other countrys.
It's going to happen sooner or later so you may aswell just accept the change and move on with it.

My family in Ireland said that before the euro came out there, everything was fine. But now the euro is there, everything is so much more expensive they can hardly afford stuff now. I hope it never comes here.
I think we should stick with the pound. Its still like the second strongest currency after the dollar, no need to change.
I agree, if the euro comes in the economy would go out the window, prices are high enough as it is (£1.30 for diesel, aghh) and they'll most likely rise again come the euro.Quote:

Strongest currency is such a broad term, you could say the strongest is the currency with the least inflation which is the dinar (the Kuwaiti one I think is the least of them). Or strongest could be the currency with the same amount in circulation at any one time (to avoid inflation) which would be the pound, or most widely used which is too close to call between the Euro and the Dollar. Then again the currency which all other currencies are based on has got to be mentioned, gold :PQuote:

I would hate to have the euro. It would make the credit crunch situation even worse than it already is. Imagine having to halve your money if the euro came and not only that, everthing would be almost double the price and in most cases even more. If we did go to the euro things would turn out so bad the politicians would realise and want to go back to the pound. But what would be done would be irreversable because changing money back to pounds would mean you lose even more. Bad situation hey?

Pound World turned into the 2 euro shop. now that is a bad exchange rate.
Great Britain isn't great anymore, taxes are rediculously high on everything, you go to Lanzarote, Diesel is about 1/4 of the price over there, same for just about everything else that is sold in Spain.Quote:
