Why would we want to associate with a currency which a bunch of countries who hate us have? :S They envy our independence currency wise.

Just had to fit that in.
No, because everything will shoot up in price like in Greece and everywhere else.
give me a source saying they do, it wouldn't make sense apart from the fact they can't change their own interest rates.
tbh - it's ridiculous NOT changing to the euro, the value of the pound will decrease rapidly soon (or the euro rises) because the euro will be traded more than the pound in the world markets (increasing demand = increasing price/value), which means that we will lose out in the end.
All this 'lose tradition' stuff is what keeps this country behind.
But no - it won't go through because the conservatives will win the next election, and they are all anti what labour is. so eh. It's a loss.
goodbye.
Who needs a source to prove that?give me a source saying they do, it wouldn't make sense apart from the fact they can't change their own interest rates.

Give me a source saying that the price of the Pound will go down soon? Why do we need to trade the pound? We don't. We convert currencies when we trade, it's no big loss.

As an outsider, I don't think it'll be a good idea, your economy may be affected seeing how strong the Pound is. Meh if it you change to the euro I get to go to UK earlier because its more affordable![]()
shawn
The pound already has lost it's value against the euro! There's proof already! Have you seen how expensive it is now, 78p/€?
Currencies are traded on the basis of how much the currency is worth taking into the effects of inflation, interest rates etc by people/corps whatever. THIS affects the price you pay for your euros at the bureau de change/banks.
You don't 'convert' your pounds to euros, you are trading your pounds for euros, as in you're buying them, like bread.

The British economy is slowing sliding..
goodbye.
Ever just thought the Euro is on the verge of a landslide instead? If the pound is on the down currently, then that tends to mean it'll rise again soon, and vice versa to the Euro. The pound already has lost it's value against the euro! There's proof already! I understand the concepts you're explaining to me here and yeah it all sounds bad, but why should Britain keep adjusting to other countries beliefs/laws - or in this case, currencies - we're just a pushover country, or so it seems.

it's all up for debate. who knows.
goodbye.
When/If we change to the Euro people will no doubt lose money, when we decimalised our currency they were able to raise prices on products which results in things being a lot more expensive without anyone knowing and as things are already very expensive here it'll be a big hit on people's bank accounts.
In some aspects definitely, but a sense of tradition is valuable; the monarchy, architecture, government and certainly our currency are a part of our history and should be protected. I'm sure some will disagree with that but I believe it (Although the civil list pisses me off).
what you have to do is force everyone to show the price in pounds as well for a year or two, so people can see if theyre getting ripped off. this happened in france.When/If we change to the Euro people will no doubt lose money, when we decimalised our currency they were able to raise prices on products which results in things being a lot more expensive without anyone knowing and as things are already very expensive here it'll be a big hit on people's bank accounts.
