Hey
I think these core temps are quite high for idle'ish load.

What do you think?
They do seem quite high. Wait for the experts to log-on and tell you if that is a problem, as I'm not sure.
Yep, looking at them again, 70 degrees for a 23% load is terribly wrong. Somthing must not be working or somthing has happened. Wait til' Stephen or Nick or whatever their names are, get on. They are the experts in this area.
Have you overclocked?
Is your heatsink sat on it properly?
Isn't it you whos computer case doesn't fit the motherboard so you left the mobo on top of case? could of moved something when you took it out.
I find core temp lies for me, but it actually say's they're way under what they actually are lol. Maybe your heatsink isn't properly seated.
Check what temps your BIOS says.
That's rather high, the maximum the Q8200 is supposed to go at is 72c, mine's usually around 40 - 50 when being used, max. it's been at is around 60ish.
the HSF is on correctly :S the BIOS also said like 60c

seem a bit better today
You probably need to re-apply the thermal paste.
Intel push pins are the worst. Even if it seems on correctly, it may not be.
But if you're running it outside the case with no fans blowing cool air accross the motherboard and heatsink, then no wonder temps are high
Case is coming tomorrow so I@m sure it will all be ok until then. I will double check the push pins tomorrow.
Oh yeah it should be fine.. just don't play any games or put any load on it
Update your coretemp to 0.99.3 to see if it makes a difference.
It's only gone down because your CPU has begun throttling itself down. Look at the CPU speed. 1.6GHz
Zalman ZM-STG1 Thermal Grease = best ever. Comes with a brush not some crappy strip of plastic
I have the Gigabyte power saver program on (have been since i got the mobo)

Still extremely high I have never peaked 33 :/

Much better now with case, plus the HSF wasn't attached properly. Bloody push pins.
Well, IMO, core temp is wrong for me as it'a saying Core 0 is 18 and core 1 is 20 when i know it's in more like the high 30s. I think my room is warmer than 20C :S.
Less than 10c? You poor soul. I would freeze
