Oh god, the other side of the shuffle (the metal bit) is gonna get so scratched. Never really been a fan of shuffles but it looks nice.

It's bloody nasty!
I thought things were supposed to go forward, what the hell happens if you break your headphones? You can't just use a normal pair, you have to go and buy a new pair of these Apple ones.
I think its a step in the wrong direction. Ok yeah, smaller is better but I think they have went a bit far with all the shrinking.
I think its a nice product, but yes the earphones are a bit of a con.
Looks quite horrible, the previous looks better in my opinion.
Agreed with most of the comments above to be honest :P

The back of it looks ok?
Thats about it :)
- The new shuffle is damn attractive.
- £19 is not an extortionate amount for new Apple headphones with remote. (Though £54 for their in-ear variety is.)
- The shuffle uses a 3.5mm jack, so I gather you don't need to use their headphones. I imagine you could use any that have controls on them. In fact, I'll test this out on Thursday afternoon or Friday when I'm next near the Apple store.
- Did I imagine how attractive the shuffle is?
- I really would buy one but my new phone has more than adequate music support, and my tablet didn't pay for itself.
- Lists rule.
Yeah, of course it is all about the money but what I meant was really you can't use your product until you get another pair of Apple headphones.
Any other player you would just bash another pair of headphones in and you could be listening to your music again no problem.
I think the previous generation looked better though, although I am loving that it is 4GB :)
I actually like it, I think it looks very nice, simple. Most people dont understand that simplicity is what people love about Apple's music products.
Dont know about functionality though, going to the Apple store over the weekend so I will take a look, might pick one up.
Much like Steve Jobs penis then xP
It's quite an interesting idea though, it reminds me of the old iPod Mini, the only iPod I ever liked :)
There's a right way and a wrong way of doing that though, people are going to complain about it being unethical now :/
Wow nice never known It can get that small. Thanks for shairng.
I popped into my local Apple store today and they think their delivery of new Shuffles will arrive tomorrow. So... I couldn't test one out with a different headset, but I'll sure try tomorrow. :)
Many people in my school have their headphones in their jumper though, so they have to 'click their chest' 3 times to change the song.
Its butt ugly, nothing wrong with the 2nd Gen one.
Notice how now only the Nano 'Chromatic' has coloured versions instead of Silver/Black.
Is that because you are all well 'ard rebels trying to hide the fact you are listening to the music in class? I fail to see why you would need to listen to an iPod at school unless you were socially ******ed. *shrug*
How is it butt ugly? It's the smallest, sleekest Shuffle design yet. The clip is a work of genius. Besides, it's so small you won't be able to moan about it being so plain. I love the Bauhaus look and feel to it. <3Quote:

Notice how the Shuffle fits in with the rest of Apple's product line re colour schemes? It's possible coloured ones might make their appearance at some point in the future, but it's irrelevant. Besides, the Nano is a different product and that is one selling point to send it to the masses. Oh noes, the iPod Classic is only black or silver. *faint*Quote:

Normally Apple keep design and functionality in tune, but now... wth?
And it's those people I have no time or respect for. Boring or not, people don't go to school to **** around. If permission is granted to listen to music, then I don't see why the headphone cord needs to be underneath a jumper, quite frankly. If permission isn't given to listen to music, I'll openly call that person an annoying toss pot unless they achieve straight A*s.
This is best for people who are working out, don't really need to change tracks, etc. Love the minimalist design. However, not so good for those who need to change it often.
I want one.. I think the bit about it speaking to you is cool :)
I actually like it, it maybe is something you can choke on but for people on the go (e.g going to work, school) and just want something to pass the time, it's a good product.
I don't like it, it's too small and could get lost easily.
Its bloody horrible.
Just a tiny update on the iPod Shuffle:
Thanks to MacRumors.com
Quote:
The Mac web has been abuzz over the past few days regarding the possibility of an "authentication" or "DRM" chip included inside the headphones for Apple's new iPod shuffle released last week. After several days of investigation, explanations, and misunderstandings, the chip appears to contain no authorization or encryption component.
Following up on comments from iLounge regarding the existence of such a chip, Boing Boing Gadgets discovered the chip located inside the new iPod shuffles' headphone control module. The discovery touched off speculation that Apple had added the chip as a means to force third-party manufacturers to pay a licensing fee in order to produce headphones compatible with the new iPod shuffle.
Macworld, however, contacted an Apple spokesman about the matter. While the spokesman confirmed the existence of the chip, its intended purpose is said to be related to the "Made for iPod" program alone. Boing Boing Gadgets was also able to speak with Apple and received what is so far the clearest explanation regarding whether the chip contains DRM:
Just spoke with Apple. There is no encryption or authentication on the chip, so clones could conceivably be made, just not with "Made for iPod" official certification. And now we know!
Update: Apple offers a "Made for iPod" licensing certification for accessories that work with their iPods. With the introduction of this chip, Apple seems to have extended "Made for iPod" certification to headphones/remotes that work with the iPod shuffle. Previously, these accessories were not required to be "Made for iPod" certified. So while there is no DRM in the chips, themselves, it is unlikely that a 3rd party manufacturer would be carried in an Apple Store unless they are "Made for iPod". The implication is that Apple has further extended their control over 3rd party accessories for the iPod.
