Anyone ever done any woodworking? I'm making this for my father for his birthday.
Just a neat little computer desk, not finished yet.. still have the top, and the back (inside the computer storage area), and the molding.

I did a little in secondary school, nothing as big as this though, it looks pretty neat :)
I've only really done it when we made Memphis furniture at A-Level but that's a bigger project and looks like it's coming on really well :).

Yeah, it's a solid oak faceframe cabinet, using CC cabinet grade oak plywood. You can see some of the pocketholes on the top.
I'm trying out a new method of joinery called pocket hole joinery. Pretty neat ;)

I did woodwork last year and i made a cabinet that was pretty big, its in my room now.. From memory its about 1600mm wide, 600mm deep and 1200mm high.. Has three draws, two doors and yeah.
Took me a whole year to make (because it was our "big project" for the last year of school) and that is only 4 classes a week, 3 x 50 minutes and 1 x 100 minutes.. And i was pretty lazy :)
I hate mm. We use inches and feet ere.
I don't use that, not with measuring stuff like this, but for heights (people) we do both
We measure stuff like this in feet and inches. Way easier imo, but metric is alright.. all based on ten.
1' 5" is easier I think to me.
Wouldn't know how many cm/mm that is. I hate how big it can get though, like 1200mm is a lot, I am sure 3"10' would be easier (I made that number up)
haha, you've got it mixed up.
' = foot
" = inch.
12 inch = 1 foot (if you didn't know.. not calling you stupid or anything lol).
So like 3' 10" = 3 feet 10 inches, = 46inches

Tape measures are so easy to use here :P

Same, our rulers have CM and inches, we usually use inches though.
I've had to convert metric to standard before, when doing industrial drawings.. that's never fun :\
I shall upload my cabinet tomorrow, it looks easy to make but it seriously wasn't, all the sanding and biscuit joints, then the half lap joints and dowell joints, gosh!!
At GCSE and A-level DT we always measured everything in millimetres.
See, I don't biscuit, or half lap, or dowel.. none of that is necessary anymore with pocket holes :] they are AMAZINGQuote:

Half laps are not that bad, quite easy tbh.. Biscuits are only annoying because u can't let I warp so u need about 100 biscuits!!!

Dove tail is so much easier than m&t :( even with the proper jig
