HxHD ~ Guild Gate?

Wouldn't it be a better idea to have a guild gate in HxHD?

This would mean only people who are in the group would be able to access (even if the gate is open, if you're not in the group you can't access) so theres no way for normal members to abuse staff lagging etc to get into staff area.

From what I see atm some staff don't bother going into staff area due to lazyness/effort to go through SE, theres always several people sitting in the desk but not bothered going behind the desk

This would encourage more staff to go behind the desk as it's just stupidly easy.

It mostlikelywont work because if non help desk staff want to get behind the desk they will stand next to the gate and when someone walks though the will mass click inside the desk and will get in, ive done it in some night club lol.

Yea this would be good :) It is impossible to run in unless you are in the group.

If the group is moderated then the owner (presumably mattg) will be choosing who can join the group and who can't.

I don't think there's any point in changing something that isn't broken, we've already got the staff area which is already secure enough to keep the staff in and the visitors out. If there are staff that are actually saying that they can't be bothered to go through the other way, surely they can't be bothered to help people out and do their job correctly. It's simple really, if you're too lazy to go through the staff entrance then you shouldn't go behind the desk, it only takes two minutes to get into room.

Another reason why I don't think it would be a good idea is basically just the way it looks, it's not the best looking piece of furniture and I don't think it will fit the theme of the help desk, it will stand out too much. It's also just something else to waste credits on when it's not really needed.

The gate doesn't compromise security.

90% of the staff should of been fired a long time ago, but thats a different subject.

Even earlier there was like 4 help desk staff in hxhd, hoteluser came in and asked staff to go behind the desk, then on emember stated to move the desk as they couldn't be bothered going through SE. And know for a fact this member isn't the only one.

If the gate didn't look so tacky then i would agree

Yeah good idea, put the gate towards the back where you cant really see it.

Yes it will improve that fact that we Dont have to go through the SE.
But it also looks tacky and which piece of furniture will go with this?

Does it really matter if it looks tacky? Just put it somewhere where it's not instantly in your face. I think it's a good idea as most of the staff can't be bothered to go the longer way.

I do believe there is a hxhd staff group already made that hasn't been touched since I was in management, so we could always update the group with the current members.

Sorry, what? Staff can't be bothered to go through to the entrance? If that's so I'd just fire them as they clearly can't be bothered to do their job.

If you really think this will improve it, then I'd say go for it. It would be a nice idea if most of the staff are that lazy.

But unfortunately that's the matter. Over the last few weeks there have been several times where I've seen the bars being moved whilst no one else is around so that they don't have to go through the staff entrance.

But yes I am for this. I do think it will look a bit tacky but like Jord said it can be 'out your face' and it will be so much easier for the staff to go in.

it's a good idea but when the group is made you can't give out room rights like now, hxhd staff will be able to drop/eject furni in the room. if they're moving the bars now when they aren't allowed to how can you trust them with this :rolleyes:

Well firstly a HxHD staff member doesn't have to be behind the desk at all times. Obviously it'd be good if they were but it's not compulsory that if you're in the desk, you need to be behind the bar and in the staff area.

Despite that, the guild gate does sound like it'd be ideal for this type of thing so if there's a way we can incorporate it into the desk without ruining the look or theme then it is something I'd support. :)

I think it's a fantastic idea, it would also save Matt having to give/take away rights in the staff entrance.

Not a bad idea, it sounds easier than going through the staff entrance and saves time too. :P

Well this is the type of thing that the gates were designed for so it would seem silly to ignore it! :)

using that logic, what stops them from completely trashing the room and allowing everyone into staff entrance/staff area at the moment?

Surely though if it's ugly , look at current design we got that blooming great epic christmas tree, somehow make it so it's hidden behind something or mostly hidden, aslong as the staff know where it is even ocd people don't have to notice it. And personally I don't even find it that ugly ;p

I'm certain we were going back to the other design with the petals and throne sofa's? if we are then this would definitely make the room look ugly. I don't see what's wrong with staff just going through the normal staff entrance, it takes a very small amount of time and it's secure enough. If there are already staff moving bars to get in that way then they should get a warning or something along those lines, no staff should be moving furniture in the first place unless it's for a good reason.

It's also going to be hard to hide something that's huge and light blue.

I do think this is a really cool idea and should be implemented if possible because why not?

However I do agree with the notion that if staff members cannot even see the significance of being behind the bar, and if they cannot be bothered to use the staff entrance to go behind the bar that there is a serious problem and that we need to ask those staff members whether they want to be here or not.

I think this is a good idea so all staff can get in using the main room, no harm in this.

I'd just like to add, if you were to do it would be an idea buying the group gate for HxHD but make a homeroom a different room. This would mean that you could buy the guild gate for this group, but place it in the HxHD. It would also mean that they wouldn't be able to eject or drop furni into HxHD.

You'd also not be able to give others admin rights in the group, as I know with admin you can just remove people from the group which could cause trouble in the dept.

I think it's a good idea because that is what the whole point of the gate is. Also you don't have to set the help desk as the group homeroom because any guild gate can be used. I think this would be much more efficient and up to date, the thing is, it's so easy to moderate the group now because anyone who you make an admin can accept into the group and give/take admin rights so yeh. I know it's a bit tall (I think there should be a smaller one as well) but it's not so bad that it ruins the whole room imo.

Anyway it's up to the management at the end of the day but I think in the next seasonal update, it would be good and simpler.

What about people like me who have made 4 groups (so means i can't leave them) and don't have vip, i won't be able to join another group without buying vip....

Then you can continue to use the staff entrance

and non hc are limited to 4 joins?

[@]@Scottish[/@] yeah that may be a problem. They can only join 3 groups (and those 3 groups may well be groups they can't leave) for other reasons. I guess if you had both a staff entrance and a gate then there wouldn't be so much point in the gate so I'd leave the staff entrance... Hmm.

Also, I was under the impression that people where going to be designing the new HxHD layouts? Doesn't that mean we wouldn't have to use that bloody old ass layout which is boring and gross lol.

As 99% of the staff are HC and can take advantage of this, those who can't afford HC can simply use old method. I'm sure most people who are becoming trialists will also be HC so can use that instead of matt giving rights in SE

But still encourages staff to sit in desk when they're in the room.

If they fired the incompetent staff then wouldn't need this at all, but that discussion is for another time :P

The staff simply cba going the long way, and this gate was designed for the specific purpose of letting only specific members into the area, which would help hxhd staff members get into the area without the need of going through other rooms and such and theres no 'security' flaws with the gate.

Would also mean new members don't need rights in SE and such, only people who need SE are those who can't afford HC which will be 1-2 max people most likely.

Would also mean Ms.Aquamarine can accept trialists into the group instead of getting MattG to wait on the member coming online then going into the room and giving them rights.
