you can protect folders but not sure about other files, its somewhere in properties
Yeah, I've been having a look around but the best thing I can find is setting it as a "Hidden" file... but that's not very secure at all. Can't find anything about setting a password.
Winrar and archive it with a password
You will have to get a program to do that for you unfortunately, you could always disguise it as something else though, something nobody will click on, The IE logo for example then name it Internet Explorer?
Are you still able to edit the document after it's been archived?
That's a pretty good idea, although it's still not really secure enough! :(
Would that do the trick? How would I go about trying that? :P
You can password pprotect files in MS word
which version you using, 2003 or 2007 is it
Open the archive, insert password and you should (Depending on the archive program used to open it) either be able to edit it then, or you'll have to extract it, edit and then re-archive.
Go to a website such as http://www.alltextencryption.com/
Add a key (Like a password, keep it secret) and insert the plain text into the plain text field and then your encrypted text pops out below. To decrypt put the same key back in and then press decrypt.
http://www.crypo.net/tools/eng_aer256p.php
Also looks pretty good.

Ahhh, I think the encryption on Microsoft Word will work best for me... thanks! :D
Make sure it's .docx rather than .doc otherwise it's insecure
Use a Truecrypt container, or the built in MS Office encryption.
