Assuming you have the correct slot (PCI/PCI-E) available then it should do.
How do I know if I have the correct slot? I know the guy I bought it off said "there is an audio card in it" but I think its just the motherboard one (which is basically ****). Sorry for the noobish question

The title meant to say "Does any sound card fit in any PC" sorry :P
If you know your motherboard manufacturer + model then you can look up the manufacturers website and find all the info on it, or just open it and you'll see.
Would that come under system model? Its a Gigabyte Mobo, and it says "System Model: xx-xxxxx-xxx" x being numbers and letters.

Yes it is, just typed it in on google, its a Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2P, i'll check in a second. Thanks :D
The link for my motherboard : http://www.gigabyte.com/products/pro...px?pid=3833#ov
Not sure where to look to see if it would fit a soundcard in it. Do you mind looking for me?
1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x16
1 x PCI Express x1 slot
(All PCI Express slots conform to PCI Express 2.0 standard.)
1 x PCI slot
Presumably youll have a graphics card occupying the PCI-E x16 slot, so you have a PCI-E x1 and PCI slot available, most sound cards I believe are PCI (although it'll state if if it's PCI-E or PCI).
Link the Soundcard
Thanks alot :D . This is the sound card i'm getting : http://www.scan.co.uk/products/creat...ss-new-version which I believe is PCI. Just want to double check with you before I buy it and realise it isnt PCI. :P
It'll work fine as you have both PCI & PCI-E free (assuming you don't have anything in those slots)
Yeah, you probably have a graphics slot in the x16 slot.
Thankyou so much. +rep'd you too :D :P

Could you locate where the PCI & PCI-E are on this motherboard? sorry for causing you trouble :/

Just zoomed in, and its under that blue bar on the left hand side going vertically. My Graphics card is inserted into that blue bar on the left. Is that a problem?
Just studied the picture and compared it to mine:
http://www.gigabyte.com/fileupload/p...3/4197_big.jpg
The PCi and PCi E are both free, meaning the sound card I showed will work?
although, how big is your GPU? The sound card may block your GPUs fans from receiving necessity airflow.
As for the slots:
PCI-E/PCI
- White Circle - PCI-E x16
- Purple Circle - PCI-E x1
- Red Circle - PCI
I think those are the slots and lanes, if I'm incorrect, I apologise.
@IRhyss; @scottish; this is the actual mobo :
Looks alright to me, looks like the sound card will probably fit.

Okay, thank you :P
@scottish; can you suggest a sound card in the price range of £30ish?
Wow thanks xD Its only because there is 100's I just didnt know which one to pick!

@IRhyss; it says "Three internal auxiliary input connectors let you connect your CD drive directly to the sound card. If your drive features external control buttons, the card allows playback without impeding your computers performance."
How would I do this? :S
Startech is a cheap brand.
Try looking for the Asus Xonar DG / DS for about that price. Pretty sure they're PCI slot.
Thanks. Its PCI 5.1 - does that matter?
Im gonna buy this one right now:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-Xonar-P.../dp/B003ZXDOL6
5.1 is 5.1 surround sound, not PCI 5.1 :P
Yeah, it's standard PCI slot which is the bottom one
