competitions on habbox.com

title might be confusing? but yeah im clearing out old pm's and i was reading a convo i had with @Intersocial; about a competitions survey he did at the time. (05-08-2013 08:23 PM)

Well everyone likes Draw Something/Draw My Thing which is a fairly simple concept, a Habbox version wouldn't go a miss imo, maybe spiced up with certain Habbo/Habbox themes to suit what's currently going on (e.g HxSS is soon so summer theme). Could be a monthly/2 week thing - maybe skipping a month here and there to stop repetitiveness.

back in the day on habbox.com when i wasnt a member/noob i always entered that comp to win 20c on homepage bring it back

Wooo my question of the week! That was around 2011 ish I believe and was just a widget in which there was a competition question and a submit button and it sent the entries to a special subforum in the general managers forum and we were able to randomly select a winner from there. Of course it could probably be done a lot easier these days with V7 :P. You could even have like a different rare prize each week or something maybe? :)

It was actually really popular and attracted a lot of entries, and was something that could be done interactively through the site which was nice. :)


Also I agree that the competitions widget should definitely be brought back. I used it quite a bit (when it was working) on V6 in order to quickly see a list of what comps were available etc.

I think this would actually be a great idea to bring back, especially the idea of the weekly comps for credits! I will see what Samanfa says and if she is happy, I'll speak to Tom about sorting it :)

@Expling; why do we need to know the latest wiki edits? it's entirely pointless

At the time I actually was mistaken. There was a competitions widget on v6 but I can't find it on v7 anymore?

what about a competitions banner, and you posting a weekly update article?

@Jellyfish; it does the same as it would for comps really - brings more people to the wiki site.
I like it because it means people actually know we have a functional, active (ish) wiki and it means people can glance over and quickly check out a page if they fancy it - also informs people of which pages have been updated

Might not be used but I don't see any issue with having it there :)

There was a Habbox Today image on v6 so it'd make sense to have one on v7 too.

As for an article, I would rather post a thread on the forum, that has the ability for me to tag winners if I need to. I don't think it needs to be weekly though - maybe every fortnight or month, we could post the winners, update the winners thread etc. on the other hand though, I do plan on bringing back the updates informing members of what competitions have just been released and which are ending so it won't be like you don't hear from the department until the end of the month!

Not sure if the Wiki one is necessary as sometimes edits are re catergorising, grammer or something

I love the new HxTodays and managers are welcome to request new ones for things they want :) I like the idea of having the comps widget back and the weekly question thing has been on my mind for a while actually!

As for weekly articles I was trying to encourage more activity from other departments while I was Content AGM, things like song of the week article, events summaries ETC and there's a post in Articles Management about it which I'll point Lauren and the new manager in the direction of.

Also, I like the Wiki widget! Same as the rest of the widgets, it's to get people elsewhere on our websites and something might pop up there that they might be interested in. On our lil todo list is functionality to be able to customise the widget placement so you can keep whatever ones you want at the top but idk how that's going!!

You can pull and move them around actually; then just press the small arrow to close the ones you don't want :D

Oh I can move mine too! That's weird why it doesn't work for everyone. There's something very strange going on with requests/shoutouts not sending or things not being clickable on some browsers/OSs sometimes...
