dude, when they smoke, just dont hang out with them. if they are outside the smell of the smoke on your clothes wont be as bad. If they are real friends they wouldnt pressurise you into something you didnt wanna do. However, you could just have one toke to shut them up and then you can decide whether or not you like it and want to continue it bla bla

    Anyway... back on the subject;

I want to stop going near them but we've been friends for such a long time!
Just tell them; 'I dont want to smoke, if you want to smoke, thats your choice, but dont offer me one since i choose to NOT smoke, i still want to be your friends, but the smoke offers have to stop!'

Be firm with them, and whilst they smoke, just wait for them elsewhere, or make some new friends, and hang with them for a bit.

Not particulary good at advice here, but thats what i would do in this situation.

    EDIT:
Also, my sister smokes, shes older than me, and shes offered me to smoke before, but i told her id prefer not to thanks.

You just have to be firm, then they will get the message sooner or later to stop offering you and pressurizing you into smoking.

As -illusions said you haver to be firm with them if they are your friends they will respect your desision. Just tell them you dont wish to smoke if they want to you have no problem with them doing aslong as its not around you

if they continue to to some around you and ask you to smoke - just go to your mum she should trust you if she is your mother just tell her whats going on

    anyway i hope this helps

I've been trying to avoid most of them when they smoke, it's been okay but sometimes it's kind of difficult. I've told them that they're affecting their health and they could die younger and they can still stop but they just laughed and said they'd stop soon. My best mate, we've been friends since primary school and she said she'll stop when she loses half a stone and it's really helped because she's been less tempted to eat and just has a ciggie instead. I know I've went on about I want them to stop but it's seemed so tempting because I can tell the difference of weight on her. People on the board probably think I'm a whining hypocrite but the situation is much different than how I can explain on a message board.

Well, they're not very good mates if they're preassuring you(No offence)
They think they're big for smoking , but your the bigger person if you avoid it.

You should ask them not to smoke around you instead of avoiding them. If they're true friends, they would respect the fact that you chose not to smoke and do not want to be around people who smoke. Don't let them pull you in though, no matter what. Smoking causes alot of harm to you.

I dont think your a whining hypocrite, i seriously dont.

Just stay away from your friends when they smoke, and speak to your friends about why they started and if they need any help to stop. Smoking is highly life risking, especially for teenagers, since they are still growing, smoking can damage that and damage more than just that, ie; teeth.

For the moment, stay away from them, when they have calmed down, try saying to them you'd like them to stop, and encourage them if they do try, if not, say you will always be there for them if they reconsider.

Smoking is very addictive, and the younger you start, the more difficult it is to stop once your older and wiser.

Take care of yourself too though, dont let them pressure you into smoking,

    Illusions.
