Apply the filter to the habbo parts of the forum then?

I think we should get rid.

I reckon you should only get an infraction if you avoid it, if you don't avoid it no one will see it so no one will get offended, so no need for an infraction.

The filter should be there but theres no need to give infractions if someone says a word that is filtered out, its like getting banned for saying bobba...

When you post something that is filtered so it comes up as *** this is not against the forum rules, you should not get an infraction or warning for this. Does this every happen? Your post should only be edited when you AVOID the filter (which means you try to swear on purpose).

As far as I know we cannot have the word filter only hold in some part of the forum, and not in others, it automatically holds everywhere.

There are basically two reasons we have the word filter. 1) because we are a Habbo fansite and mostly follow their guidelines 2) because we want to be a forum that can safely be enjoyed by members of ALL ages, in a way that they or their parents don't have to be worried about swearing.

I know that a lot of members are 16 years or older, and are probably even allowed to swear at home. But we cannot allow some members to swear, and others not, so we have to forbid it for everybody. Also I never had any problems myself saying what I wanted to say without swearing, but I guess if you are used to swearing a lot in real life or on other websites you have to adjust here.

yeah i think some of the words that are meant to be sexually related should be unbanned, such as the word sc'rew [if its still filtered]

Yes some words do need removing. But I think most of the filter was based off the Habbo one.

Because there is some confusing (also among moderators) I'll try to explain what is allowed and what not:

A2. Don't swear - It really is as simple as it sounds. The forum filter will substitute the letters of swear words with *-signs. However some words might not have been censored as of yet, and are not suitable on this forum. It is not allowed to try to avoid the swearing filter or to post any swearing that does not come up as ***. Also it is not allowed to use any abbreviations for words that are filtered on this forum, with an exception for LMAO which is allowed, even though the A stands for a word that is filtered.

    1) It is allowed to swear when the swearing is filtered.
Example: I was ****ing late for work / For **** sake
I would like it if not just the **** part but the complete 7 letter word was filtered by our word censor, but unfortunately it doesn't work like that.
These posts should not be edited.

    2) It is not allowed to swear when your swearing is not filtered.
Examples are avoiding the filter by adding a . in the middle, or by some other trick.
    These posts should be edited.

    3) It is not allowed to use abbreviations for words or suggest swear words by only typing the first letter(s).
Example: For f*** sake / stfu / fu
    These posts should be edited.

Does this means the following is allowed?
You are a ****ing idiot, go **** your mum.
Of course this is not allowed, but the rule that is broken here is NOT rule A2, but rule A1 which says you have to respect other's views (I will edit the rule so that it explicitly says not to be rude or offensive to others).

In this case a (temporary) ban should be given, and the post should be edited with something like: Please don't be rude or offensive to others.
