In year 7 i was like OMG i cant preform infront of my form, now i've preformed infront of the whole school, year 11's parents/family. All the teachers, which came to about 1800 people. and i'm in year 10. It took me about 3 years, so it's not an overnight thing :-P
To be honest this didn't help me I hated drama! lol I think my problem was I started off shy and for the rest of my school life everyone knew me as this I came out of my shell when I started college I made a new group of friends and I am now one of the loud ones ! There is one boy called Inderpal who never talks andI always try to get him involved ! so you could try and make a new group of mates outside school somehow maybe joining a club or something hope it dosn't sound to dorky or even go to social events such as partys

or if your old enough you could get a job? this is something which also helped me I used to hate talking to people I don't know but now I work in Waitrose (super market) and just go up to random people and ask them if they need help.

I hope you see what I'm getting at all you have to do is go to new places and meet new people !
    hope I've helped

I’ll be a story in your head, but that’s okay, because we’re all stories in the end. Just make it a good one, eh? Because it was, you know. It was the best. A daft old man who stole a magic box and ran away. Did I ever tell you that I stole it? Well, I borrowed it. I always meant to take it back. Oh, that box, Amy, you’ll dream about that box. It’ll never leave you. Big and little at the same time. Brand-new and ancient and the bluest blue ever. And the times we had, eh? Would had…Never had. In your dreams, they’ll still be there. The Doctor and Amy Pond and the days that never came.

You dont sound very shy to me, you said you dance lots at parties and talk to people, its weird that your friends would suggest you're shy. It seems like you are on the right path to becoming more out-going. good luck and have fun! x

I read a book called "Feel the fear and do it anyway", it was pretty life changing. Hope that helps.

it is hard, i used to have it, try talking to the other sex from you, and maybe join a drama class, that boosts your confidence!

I do go out, parties and all that. I try and not to think about people, thinking about me as who they 'think' I am, which I'm not. I am quite shy. Thanks anyway +rep

I have lots of guy mates, I get on well with them, and I think I talk more to them, then my other mates. I think it is because they don't know me that well, and I don't care what they think about me.
