Ok this may not be great but look at how i've improved it
1. Removed all background.
2. Erased bottom half of amber lamp so all I have is lamp
3. Super-imposed it onto pillar.
4. Removed the old translucent bit of table at bottom and replaced it with what looks like the pillar.
5.Chcked everything before then posting on forum.

Ok so the alt may not be great but you can see the various steps i've gone through to improve it from yours.
Always make your alts at x8 in paint this way you can see the pixels clearly and if you hit ctrl + G a grid appears, however never use the grid when your colouring! it could be perilous.
