Can you really say you chose to be straight or gay? I know what I would pick if there was a choice over the matter.

edit. www.borndifferent.com a friend gave me this link a while back, it's interesting to say the least.

    BEN MYKE

I think it can be both. When born + When discovering yourself as you get older.

Your environment does nothing. Well, i dont think so anyway. It'll be pretty hard to 'make' someone gay just by hanging with gay people and with your mum :s

"discovering it when you get older" = environment.
Discovering it when you get older = Knowledge of the situation you're in

Let's face it, you cant expect an eight year old to determine which sex he or she has a prefrence, because obviously it will choose the opposite sex. A young child sees its parents and other people acting in a hetrosexual way. But when you develop the knowledge and the feelings deep inside you can determine.

When i was young i didn't know i was gay, and i can't think of anything which would make me want to become gay. I am gay, thats all there is to it, nothing to do with how i was brought up..

Oh, and by the way, stop flaming people in the thread if they don't agree with your opinion - are you unable to have a mature discussion?

that is all well and good, but no one has proved anything yet.

so i think i'll stick to being open minded about this.

oh, and another thing. you get like adults that like leave their marriages to have a gay relationship, and they used to be attracted to women, but then changed to be attracted to men? surely that can't be from their genes?

In my opinion, homosexuality is a form of.. disability; if you will.
Yes, it's inevitable, but we weren't meant to be gay.. straight people were created for a reason - to reproduce. And gay people.. well they can't, unless they do it with the opposite sex. Homosexual people in my opinion are a deformed genre of the human race, i know i sound horrible for saying it - but it's the truth. Gay people weren't meant to be created, there's no purpose.

But what I don't get is why priests are always chatting crap saying "God thinks homosexuality is wrong", it's like people don't choose to be gay? Do you chat crap about people who developed mental problems when they were born, or other such people? NO!1 - It's not their own fault.

Homosexuality is wrong in religion's eyes and also in my eyes, but I have no problem with them, just don't like what they do.

Your comment is stupid to put it more straight forward.
