    Basicly its for if you have a poor connection on a radio and cant hear someone properly, useing the alpha, bravo, charlie is alot clearer than ABC even with alot of static with a bad signal, Useful if your on a mobile and have a crap signal etc, although it was more aimed at miltary use when communition was much poorer. Although is still emploied today "/
