you are matt, you just can't sell them without a licence. [:
you need to find someone who can legally sell them, which would be hard. & they cost about £200-£250, then with a cage etc maybe £300-£350.

now is about the right time to buy 1. i reccomend an older one not a very young one as when it hibinates young ones die alot. itcosts alot more money for a big one maybe 400-500 pounds but at least it will have less chance of dieing

Yeah when I was on holiday in Crete this woman had this turtle for show in this tiny tank (a little bigger than an average fish tank)
I thought it was SO cruel... maybe illegal.
Anyway Tortioises used to be (in the olden days ) around £10 pounds but they rised when they got more endangered and so they cost from £200 - £1000 depending on what type you get and what age. Just search on google and you will find loads of info and places to buy them from. You can't just BUY a tortoise from a pet shop or a dodgy dealer. I mean first of all just keeping it in a cage, all locked up is cruel so you could at least have some kind of pen it can roam around in and you need to check on tortoise diets and what they eat. Hibernation is a little hard aswell, as the other person said, younger ones may die (of starvation?) and getting a tortoise that is older is a good thing. Also, if you get an older tortoise that means it won't live longer than you, a huge upside. If you get a tortoise that is about one year old, your tortoise could live many years over your death, who wants that?
Anyway good luck, keep us informed if you have one.
