Id disagree, if your a decent coder, shareing a script aint a problem, you just have to actually accept people are going to use what you give em, and you cant just recall it, unless you made em agree to some tos or somthing when they got it. Its why you can still use an ipb 1.x, despite ipb no longer being free.

People though will only get the dj panel as it is, no bug fix's, no securety updates, no new features etc.

The DJ Panel how you call it.. "Industry."

Its not like other online web dev. things, its don't have updates, bug fixes, "Service Packs", new versions and versions that are easy to upgrade/update.

Its just released as is to help people.

you could say the same about forums if you take the few million differnt minor implementations available. the production lines come with the top end of the spectrum.
Although that doesnt really exist due to the fact theres no real small web radio market, due to the licenceing costs assoaited.
And they dont create work for all the Illegal radios like the ones im pretty sure nearly every habbo radio is part of.

Agreed totally, I can say though the company that made Vbulletin really did make a good product and is updated often with new features... but they will get to a point sometime that they cant update it anymore. I think it should be open source, like most things so that us developers can add to it and make it better.

True, its the main reason ipb originally became so much better and more popular than it, along with the massive moding community (it was free), although thats kinda gone down the plug as late and its more focused on a whos got more pointless features we dont need battle with VB right now "/

I think SMF, PhpBB or another of the small but growing Opensource/free boreds will take over eventaly, Olympus(phpbb3) already looks very nice

Never seen Olympus, boards are not hard to make, i would say the best feature would be ajax to make it loads faster.
