Default Darren Gough back at Yorkshire

Darren Gough has come back to Yorkshire CC and has been named as their new captain.

After the England bowler left Yorkshire for Essex; he's decided to come back and has been named as Yorkshire's new captain.

I thought today would never happen when I left. It's a challenge to come back as captain and the biggest accolade I could ask for.
I'm 36 years old, I can still bat and bowl. I can still do a job. I wish I was there but I wish England well. You never say never. My job is now with Yorkshire.
I, for one am glad to see him back at his homeland.

Me too, and I think he'll be welcomed. I still think about when he left for Essex and everyone called him a traitor.

Plus he seemed off put by not being selected for the England World Cup squad, I mean Rabi Bopara or Darren Gough? Not the most tough decision in the world, favouritism with the selectors in my view.

I think the main reason why he hasn't been picked, nor will be picked is because people think he's past his best.

I refuse to believe this - I think he's a world class bowler that should still be in the ODI squad and possibly the test squad imo.

It was his decision that he left England cricket in the first place?

Very true, but any bowler of Darren Gough's quality would have a place in my squad. In my view he still bowls the best yorker in the world. When he played last time for us in the ODIs, he caused Australia enough trouble so what's to say he can't do that again?

    BRING GOUGH BACK !!!

When did he play against Austalia last..?
I know he played for Pakistan last year with Stuart Broad too.

I don't really keep up with Yorkshire, but this is a good boost for there club. 1 question which I was thinking of when I heard the news, was Michael Vaughan the captain for them? Since I know he plays for them..

Also - Stuart Clark has joined Hampshire for the 2007 season, perhaps another Aussie success to help the south?

    The ODI series in 2005.

Plus, Vaughan isn't captain because he's always away on international duty , so hardly plays for Yorkshire really.

ohh right, that's ages ago now.. (In career tems anyway)
I like how he can still bowl a deadly ball, even if it is about 10mph slower than his real peak of form.

And I see! Thanks for clearing that up

Yeah 1 and a half years lol . Plus, Gough can rip apart just about any batting order, well he could in his prime anyway. In my view he's still a brilliant bowler and a good asset to any team. We'll just have to wait and see.

    And no problem .

You don't get transfer fees, well not that I know of . Players just either stay at the club they are already at by re-newing their contract, or just move on to a different club. Some players play in England when it's our summer and Australia/South Africa when it's theirs. A good example being Graeme Smith a couple of years ago.
