How does Banjo even look remotely realistic in that? He's just got more polygons, which if were absent you'd probably be whinging "that looks so last gen".

It was never designed to be realistic, i think this is part of the reason why sonic has always failed in 3d.

Bear-max belive me I wouldnt, my fav games on consoles have cr*p gfx lol because they spend more time and effort on gameplay rather than gfx. Also why would i complain if banjo looked like he did on n64? they are my top games ever.

Because games have moved on. If a console can produce great-looking graphics then why shouldn't it? I don't want a game to be ugly for ugliness' sake. Graphics aren't the be-all and end-all of a good game, but we shouldn't be denied something that CAN be pretty as well as fun.

Because they're not human and the creators/designers would have to work harder to make other things look realistic, like horses and bad guys. In something like GTA or Metal Gear, you just look at a humans form and base it around that, then develop into guns and buildings and realistic explosions.

I am happy with graphics as long as they don't waste their effort developing on the graphics than the game play itself. Twilight Princess was excellent, because it had good graphics and game play, because it was delayed release so they worked harder on it. Wario Ware is a good game in my opinion too... But that doesn't exactly love graphics, the fun was in the randomness of the mini games.
