I didn't complete the task though, got 5 slayer levels , about 20 drags, d med drop too, then got bored so changed it. I used initiate, whip obby set, ppots and fury and so on. pretty easy for me, he would probably die in 1 hit lol.

I hate to dis-illusion you but if you used an obby set down there you'd die extremely quickly considering you must wear an anti fire shield to not be hit constant 30+.

Also, you can't get a steel dragon task of 85, the masters only give small steel tasks, and I highly doubt that a level 90 could melee them, they'd hit constant 0's, I didn't start meleeing them until like 110+ combat.
