I think the xp given out is based on your level, abit like the Pest Control system.

Yer I hate it but if your doing it in cammy go to the banker at the far left. You get much less randoms.

Maybe the clue was on the floor & it went when he came back.. cos the game takes like 4 mins.
it's based on your level in what you're choosing.
e.g if you're level 50 you'd get 500 exp.
I like genie, maze & rick turpentine (sounds like a washing up liquid tbh)(he always gives me half keys :8:8).
