+ Emails, instant features that platinums get (remember, there are only 24 platinum members out of the whole forum, so not many get the full features VIPs do), name changes which is a very big one, the special events from time to time, ability to buy rep+subforum.

I know you guys aren't very happy about the Platinum Members and subforum things, but the subforum thing was done because of performance issues, I know you guys don't want HxF to go down from an overload of forums, and the Platinum Members thing, well I wasn't a part of that and it was a decision made by the Forum Management. However, remember that of over 20,000 active members (and over 39,000 total members) - we're only 505 away from 40k! - there are 24 platinum members. Not that many people get the features VIPs get.

As for this thread's suggestion, I agree, we've been trying to do this for a while now. The only issue I see is performance, and we need to have a chat with our techies about whether the forum can handle the additional strain of raising the KB limit of VIP avatars. If they say we can, we will most certainly do so, and in our discussion I've said it should be for VIPs only, not for platinum members, so we'll see

Myself, wayne and nvrspk4 have discussed this. The thing is no matter how much we increase the attachment size of an avatar, someone will always want more. Backing up even bigger images will be a great hassle to those that backup the forum db and files so we will just have to see what can be done .

yeah but mad we want this one to replace the sub-forums. wouldn't you rather members picked something they like to replace the sub-forums? you only need to increase the size by 20/30k?
