Gomme: The EU doesn't bind us into any kind of military alliance - they didn't have to go to Iraq with us did they? I'm not saying the other EU nations wouldn't disagree with an attack on Britain but i don't think we'd have their support militarily.

i believe European law would force all member-states to act on behalf of an invaded country within it so, apart from dealing with the forces directly under eurpoean control, the US would still effectively be declaring war on all its member-states as well, meaning the entirety of the Europeans military might would go against the US, and working as a single entity the EU's own military power would be far larger than that of the Us's on its own.

Even more silly are the assumptions/generalisations about the intelligence of members of either country - All Americans arn't stupid; we both have our share of dim people.

im afriad its going to be hard to convince the rest of the world otherwize, the fact bush was voted in is pretty damning evidence, at least half the country must be morons.

In the end i don't think that anyone can deny that the US would have far more manpower and resources and would therefore be likely to win any kind of conflict.

China on its own has more resources and man power than the US. Eurpoe as a collective is also in a similar situation. Wars are not simply 1 on 1 affiras theres alot of polatics that goes on, although the US may have the advantage one on one, chances are international treaties will leave the US at war with mulitple partys which together would easly push back any US advances.


And again, man power is pretty much irrelevant to the question anyway, Nuclear weapons are the real issue in such a conflict, and MAD would be a certainty. (MAD as in mutually assured destruction in case anyone is wondering)

Incorrect, its true that 14 of the subs carrying are nuclear warheads are rented from america, but that isnt all of them, we still retain 4 Vanguard class submarine which remain completely under our control, each holding up to 16 Trident II SLBMs.

Most people will say Britain because they live there. Now without being biased I'd say Britain would call on its allies like Australia and eventually defeat America.
And even if our prime minister was to kiss the *** of america Britain would still have the EU behind them.
