Gay friend?

One of my best mates is a guy yeh, and he has been telling me he loves me for years. (But never really tried anything on which is weird, like we shared beds before but he doesnt try anything on) So yeh, hes always been quite feminine and most people who meet him think he is gay but he has always denied it. He's 20 so if he is just scared to come out then thats a bit odd cos everyone will accept it.
Nenywho, he just text me saying. Bef i forgot to tell you im gay!
so im like and text back o really?
and he then rang me saying he was only joking
but its kind of weird thou, do you think he was just trying to test the waters and see what my reaction would be?
Im going out for a drink wit him tomorrow and i told him id take him to a gay bar so he can explore his sexuality. LOL

anyway, i dont mind if he's gay but i feel a bit weird as he has always told everyone that he is in love with me and stuff so does that make me a man?

One of my best mates came out as a lesbian 2 years ago and everyone has accepted that fine so i dont think he could be worried about peoples reactions. Most people just assume he is gay anyway. Lol.
