Even on Red and Blue, it took forever (literally) to get all Pokemon, especially without cheating.

Technically is impossible if you don't have more than one of the games aswell

I haven't played it in eight or so years, but if I remember correctly all you had to do was trade with friends and you could get 150 pretty easily. But without that then I'd agree it is rather hard.
