Why do you need to tell them? Being gay is just, well about as meaningful as saying you're straight. It is accepted now. If people don't accept it, then they're failing at life for living in the anti-social past.

Don't say "Oh hi, I am gay. Nice to meet you." Because that is just, well, odd "/ People will think you're self-obsessed if anything. When you make friends you may tell them you are when you get into a conversation related to relationships, sex etc.

I suggest don't talk about it. If people ask, just tell the truth. If you are happy with your sexuality, you shouldn't be bothered by people around you. Anyway, if they laugh or make fun of you, its very immature.
