echoing

When I DJ it always echos if I put like music behind it, it supposed to echo in SAM correct? But, I listen on another PC and it echo's there too?

What version are you using? Is it your mic/voice that echos or the actual music?

Mine echos aswell. I think everyone's is like that? It does get reallllyyy annoying so when I turn on my mic to talk I usually either turn the volume on my speakers down or an easier way would just to click mute at the top of SAM. Pressing mute just mutes the studio but not the actual radio. It comes very handy to me Good luck

On sam 4 you can get rid of the echo

On the mic settings bit click config and where it says Voice FX destination (recording mode) select the option that says "Encoders (record to pipeline, skip output). Then when you speak you should no longer get an echo on your mic.

The volume of the music should stay at it's default otherwise if you turn it up it could sound distorted.

Your mic volume depends on your mic, so maybe just adjust it depending on how you get feedback from people listeneing.

To make sure people can hear me when I talk over music on the same Voice FX config there's another section on the right. With graph like pictures on there. You can adjust the fade time of the music and control the voloume of the music when you switch your mic on.

I generally put my music to the recommended volume level unless it's unusually low or something. And as for the mic goes, like Jess said, it all depends on your mic. Some mics don't work as good as others meaning you would need the volume up a little. My mic for example is very loud so I keep it below the recommended volume, but that's just me and like I said, it varies .

My trial using SAM 4 is due to run out soon - must download SAM 3.

Anyway, to add an answer to your existing question - there are alternatives. It's best to use headphones whilst DJ'in - that way it reduces:

• Feedback
• Echoed Music

Volume - well it varies as Jess and Normal have pointed out. I set the music levels though to -5.3db as it stops distortion and it makes the music clearer. Don't forget though, the music may sound quiet whilst you're listening but to the people listening it sounds loud.

Just to add ... I recommend leaving your Mic volume at default - but if you find you're talking to loud when listening back then distance the mic away from your mouth.

EDIT: Also - another way to check if you're too loud or too quiet is to look at the 'L' & 'R' bars at the side of the 'Press to talk' button.

Obviously RED is too high.
Yellow is average.
Green is too low.
