Your first problem is saying 'baring in mind it might get quite popular'. If you're starting a site and aim for popularity your almost destined to fail unless you have a very unique idea. I'd tell you some of mine but y'know, there for me

You can't just get it 'popular' just like that - But, dont do anything habbo for sure. Something unique, and it could go far.

Most ideas that people will give you sound good but they are instantly destined to fail.

You have to think of UNIQUE ideas yourself as if anyone else thinks of an amazing idea; why would they tell you it? If it was truly a unique and good idea then they would attempt to make the site theirself.

Well... personally I would like a type of blog/news site that deals with new web ideas, sites, and that sort of thing. Kind of like webware.com but with more of a community side to it. So like the editors might make a story on something and then people can vote on it, discuss it, and all that kind of stuff.
