    as said above you dont no how hard it isto deal with text pilot plus if they are new to it tentimes hard and matt G i dont see why you aintusing voice yet you understand it all now

    To declare an emergency, you should always start your message with "MAYDAY MAYDAY MAYDAY" followed by your callsign, what the emergency is and if possible your intentions.

    The main thing that you need to get out is the fact your declaring a mayday and what your problem is - The rest can wait until your able to communicate with ATC - Aviate, navigate, communicate.

    Example of a mayday call "Mayday mayday mayday, Ryanair 5437, left engine faliure we are continuing with north westerly and then inbound on the radial 083 towards Wallasey."

    ATC will proberbly respond roger mayday squawk 7700, all runways avaliable for landing surface winds XXXXX - When able state intentions.

    andonce you done that if their any othertraffic around your be told your number one and all traffic will be going around best bit is if you have 8 people on the ILS and the maydayis is number 9 allof them are going around HAHA!

    No offence mate, but me and thousands of other people manage to do it just fine

    If you think you'll forget things, then have a pen and paper ready and you can always ask a controler to "say again" if you missed his or her transmission.

    We really appreciate pilots using voice or at the least voice recieve as it takes a huge work load off us.. Stressful being a controler, you know?

    I think you should at least try voice, if you do decide too, good luck!
