I do not agree with the "for everyone or not at all" bit.
All that should be done is they make the forms longer and do different checks.

I was on 30 pound a week, free transport and free food and they even offered me to apply for a special goverment grant for money.
If i didnt have the free food, i wouldnt of ate, which wouldnt of bothered me. I could of spent the 30 pound a week on transport (Would of came to 17.50 a week) but then that would leave me with 12.50 for other stuff. I didnt apply for the other money grant as i left to go to full time work.

And i have a few friends who are like me, if they didnt get that 60 quid every fortnight, they wouldnt be able to go to college - So your "for everyone or not at all" would be very unfair, as if the EMA system wasn't there they would of been forced to get a job.

I know many people who take advantage of the system though, my one mate aint poor, his parents are quite well off and he has some how managed to scam his way through the system to get EMA, also he works a few days a week so he gets paid on top of it.
My other friend's parents are split up, her dad is very rich and her mum doesnt work but she has shares in lots of things etc, she gets EMA as they see her mum as unemployed and living alone.

    My point exactly.

Jack mate I've said before and really cannot emphasise enough that I do know and understand that a lot of people simpyl do need the money and that is fair enough. But when people are like "WOW I JUST GO £150 SO IM GOING OUT THIS WEEKEND TO BUY CLOTHES" whilst I'm doing the exact same thing and need to work for mine... know what I mean?

Im going deep into my private life here, but we nearly lost our house once, because my family couldn't pay back there loan. I, aswell as using my EMA to help out with little costs, I also am out, working and trying to pay my own way.

Ostinatio, in the thread, you have actually disgusted me, I know you have the right to your opinion, but it absolutly disgusts me.

OSTINATO - YOUR REVENAGE REP, IS ALSO, IMMATURE. I TOOK OFFENCE AT THE POINT YOU SAID, STATING YOUR MOTHER HAD THE MOTIVATION TO GO OUT TO UNI. IT IS OBVIOUS YOU ARE TRYING TO MAKE SOME POINT ABOUT MY FAMILY. IF YOUR GOING TO REVENGE REP, I HIGHLY DOUBT YOU DESERVE YOUR POSITION AS HABBOX STAFF
im sorry, but thats your parents fault? if they know they wouldnt be able to manage an extended family why did they go into one?

You just concentrate on the some that do somehow get the EMA and just splash it on personal reasons. Most do actually need it so why dont you quit with that kind of stuff because all you can think about is the unfair parts.

Sorry mate but life is unfair.

thats no excuse. she should make sure first before she acts so irresponsibly. you say that ostinato 'disgusts' you in this thread due to his personal views & opinions. however i feel strongly about your parents actions & as a consequence have struggled bringing up a family. that child was born into a world without prior planning. i myself find that rather sad. your parents actions disgust me.

I spent some of mine on clothes when i saved a bit of it up, and no-one here can say they wouldnt either.

I work full time and pay taxes which probably go to EMA, but I don't get worked up about it or even think about it, there is nothing i can do about it, if the goverment didnt spend that money on EMA they would only spend it on something stupid like more librarys etc.
