I mean, do you have accounts, do you buy planes (with game money) or are there planes you just use, can you have a collection of planes etc?

Free downloads are illegal.
it comes with default planes, you can buy others or download some, and you just use them.
better to have a joystick.
Note: you can't download joysticks
