My opinion on the ending... or what we think is the ending:

It would make sense for Luigi to be the last boss. When talking to characters, they constantly talk about how they saw Luigi. But at one point in the haunted house, you can see and talk to Luigi, which makes me think it isn't true. Plus, it sounds way to weird.
I'm positive Mario doesn't die though

No he doesn't... I saw a video where you see him in the haunted house and you talk to him because he is calling you.
