Welcome to my guide on how to spot a scammer and how to catch scammers and get them on the untrusted list / disrespect off other forum members.

Chapter One - Checking their legit
Before you are going to do a trade, check the person has the right stuff you are buying and ask for a screenshot / ingame proof before going ahead.
You must be an idiot if you just go into a trade without even asking if they can show you the items before the trade.
TOP TIP: CHECK THE RUNESCAPE TRADING SECTION'S UNTRUSTED LIST FIRST!

Chapter Two - Spot Their Behaviour
Keep an eye out for the following things, these are some things you can tell scammers by;
- Trying to rush you into things and get it over quickly,
- Not letting other people talk to you,
- Being defensive,
- Dropping the price loads
- Always saying IDGF, no matter how many vouches you got.
The one in bold is what most scammers do, they just want to make any amount of money.

Chapter Three - Staying Safe With Trades
Some people do not even bother to video/screenshot or get another person to witness a trade, this is just stupid.
Main thing to do; Get geared up with some screen recording software. (List Below)
Second Best; Get a person such as a mate or a forum mod to witness the trade.
Third Best; Take a bunch of screenshot of before, during and after the trades.
TOP TIP: Try and get a vid or screenshot of the person using an excuse or running off with your money or items!
As said above, Having a video of the person making up an excuse and running off is the best thing to have. It prooves they are a scammer 100%.

Chapter Four - Getting Them On The LIST
HabboxForum is lucky to have an untrusted list, here is how to get a person onto it. (With Proof)

1) Gather your evidence and don't loose it!
2) Upload your video to YOUTUBE or pictures to IMAGESHACK
3) Make sure your video or pictures are clear!
4) PM one of the Runescape section's mods with the evidence.
5) Wait until you get a responce or they're on the list!
Some people moan about the list but I'd say it's a great thing to have =P.

Chapter Five - Don't Let Anyone Talk You Out
If some people find out you have evidence they try and bribe you to not report them.
Don't accept it, They will just keep on scamming other people.
Sometimes, scammers may threaten or harass you, If this happens this is totally un-acceptable and in my opinion they should be shot but that is against the law. So all you can do is report them, via the link on the forum index.

Final Words And Opinions
Scammers are everywhere, Some peoples best friends just turn on them and scam them. Scamming ruins friendships and makes the scammer disrespected.
As the trading forum has become more active, their has been more scamming.

Not true, videos may be edited. But if it is uploaded within say, 5 minutes of trade (if you do all your talking in the forum's threads) it'll be legit.


Obviously, a video uploaded 3 hours after the trade must've been edited.

Your wrong, if you vid your trade and get the part where they decline the trade or run off, you just pm a moderator with the proof and they'll be on the list within two days.
