I've never had anything in my rep comments that is remotely unique, they're just standard text and maybe a smilie :S

It might be a guess, but when you said you always get -rep in bold, he thought he hadn't given you -rep in bold. It's a good thing he has admitted he has -repped you I guess, but other than that's it's not as if it's a problem
