Because there is nothing of significance on there. It's just a rock. If we want to find anything about dwarf planets, we might aswell go to Ceres not Pluto. And it'd be a waste of money?

Pluto's still a planet in my opinion (I am a rebel ). If it was still a planet, there would have to be about 10 other planets to join out system, but meh. Why would you need to go to Pluto?

No, it will never happen. You'll need water, food and oxygen for 200 years, how are you gonna get that?

17 Years, Im sure they could actually do it...

Ergh Dumbo. Is there anything stopping them from taking a bigger shuttle?

    Why would it?

"Wow, we stood on Pluto for 5 seconds."
    "Now what?"
    "We go back?"
    "I guess."
    "Well that was a waste..."
    "Yeah."

Plus we already have a spacecraft going to Pluto, so there's no need.

And a bigger shuttle would need years to build, test, equip etc.

You said 100 years in your first post? :S

Even if it is for 17 years, thats 34 years altogether. Still don't see how you're going to get food, water, oxygen and fuel to last that long. Don't even mention Sunshine!

Oxygen they can recycle with a filter or something, water they can probably do the same. Fuel would probably wouldn't be needed or something, it'll probably get gravity assists or something to speed it up, but food, there's no way around trying to store 34 years food in a shuttle.
Light takes 3.8 hours to travel from the sun to pluto at a speed of about 670 million miles per hour, so there is light, and even if it took 17 years for light to travel, there would still be light. But due to the extreme distance, there will be very, very little light.
And the sun wouldn't dissapear, we're billions of miles away from other stars, yet we can still see them in our night sky.
