Repping 5 People a Day

One problem Habbox has with rules, is if one person manages to cause a problem, everyone must suffer as if they helped cause the problem. The foreign language rule is pointless for this very reason. Someone swore in French or something, and for some strange reason, the swearing rule has no effect. 'You are not allowed to swear' pretty much covers any form of swearing, so why make a new rule on it? Let people post in French in any forum, granted it would be pointless but I don't see why you need to make a new rule which existed in different rules...

That's clearly not the answer. I've never seen a forum without some sort of reputation system but at the same time, I've never seen so much fuss over it as I have here .

I haven't repped more than five people since the change because it's pointless. +3 REP will not go anywhere. I've given up on rep. But I can see what you're saying and I do think 5 a day is too low.

Ahhh... I see your point about friends with high rep power. I assume someone who regularly hands out pointless rep receives an infraction adventually? Well, perhaps those with very high rep power who give pointless, should have harsher punishment?

For example, someone with 1-5 rep power may get an infraction after 10 pointless reps but someone with 6-10 rep power may get an infraction after just 5 pointless reps (or something like that)?

Well yes, we do deal with them, however the problem had become so humongously widespread that it was a literal situation of 1 v 100. And checking to see who's been pointless repping takes a while.

We usually send warnings first before doing anything though. The problem is we won't be able to ID them every 6 reps, we come across them by accident usually, through someone else's reps or checks of them due to their rep rule breaking.

Well, its not exactly one person in this case, its a vast majority of the forum. And when its a vast majority unfortunately everyone does have to suffer. I would say more people pointless rep than swear, but swearing is still against the rule

the whole situation was caused because of people with a high rep power having a vendetta against people and -repping them caused them to go down really quick, then why not just get rid of minus repuation, leave plus, and then not HAVE any repuation rules except for the limitations of how much to give out etc.

a hell of a lot easier for all of you, and the forum would probably prefer it on the whole.

What I would like to see happen, is for certain parts of the forum eg. Graphics and Alterations, the rep you give out should be limited to 15 a day, mainly to rep good alts. But in other areas, eg. Spam, it should be limited to say 3 a day or something along those lines

Doubt this will happen - vBulletin doesn't have a functionality to do it out of the box, so it would require a custom modificaiton.

I don't think having no negative rep would help because sometimes you see someone with a LOT of negative rep (like 4 or 5 red blocks). If your idea was in place, those people would just have no rep at all... infact they might even have some positive rep.

What I'm saying is that just because someone has 0 rep doesn't neccessarily mean I wouldn't trust them (threy could just be new), but someone with a big red bar is someone I'm going to avoid.

So a vast majority of the forum know how to swear in a different language? I very much doubt it. It's ever worse when the rule on swearing covers swearing in general, which means swearing in a different language, swearing backwards etc etc. You've just added a new rule which already existed!
