A few people i know have them, They seem pretty good, there only downfalls are really that the keyboard can be a little bit "too" small, making it hard to type, and the fact Xandros (The defualt O/S) has pretty crapy networking support. (i dont know anyone yet whos got it working on my unis wireless)

If you are thinking of getting one, you may wana hold off for some of the next versions of em, 1GB memoery standard, 8gb ssd, plus they may get some models with bigger screens (talk of touch screens to)
Hopefuly without to much effect on the excelent value for money.

I want to play Counter-Strike Source on it reasonably when im out and about, ive seen people run it on thir Eee and has been fine. It is a regular laptop, just small etc, really its inbetween a tablet and a laptop.

It does run CSS, but it's very complicated to set up.

They said they are never going to make the screen bigger, but always try and update it. The keyboard isn't very small, and wireless works fine in my school and at home.

It's really good value for money, and quite practical. I took a picture a few weeks back; it's smaller then a Coke bottle, lol.

Not really, upgrade the RAM, put a flash card in it for more storage, install XP, install CSS, Play! >=]

Tom, on my laptop i play all Counter-Strike games and CSS lags the most out of all 3-4 of them just need to get a good GFX card if it doesn't already have it.

Lag factor on my laptop:

1. Counter-Strike: Source (Graphic lag is ok but still worse then all)
2. Counter-Strike: 1.6 (Graphic lag like CSS)
3. Counter-Strike: Condition Zero Deleted Scenes (lags on Fires and rocket launchers)
4. Counter-Strike: Condition Zero (only when hegrenande explodes)

Well I'm on the very laptop right now and its perfect for my needs. I'm 15 and its great for school work and around the house.

Very portable, light and easy to carry
Speakers are loud enough
The keyboard is fine just takes a little getting used to.
Built in camera which is very handy and good pixels.
Memory seems fine for school work and pictures (4gb)
Laptop speed is very fast.
Good programs already installed for school work
Wireless is ok but can be slightly annoying as it sometimes goes off for no reason.
Linux is a bit rubbish imo. Pidgin (AIM) is completely rubbish compared to Msn plus.
The desktop doesn't feel like a desktop for some reason.
Some programs don't support Linux for example Shockwave.
No disk drive

I personally would prefer Windows on here. Does anyone know how much memory it takes up and other complications that may occur?
And also when I download it doesn't seem to download properly. I tried downloading Limewire and it downloaded and I found where I had downloaded it to just when I double clicked it to install it didn't open.

Help would be appreciated thanks =]

You'd need a Linux version of Limewire, or run it on WINE.

Buy a flash card for it and a USB CD Drive and install Windows. Or unlock the proper desktop, not some ***** that ASUS put 'over' the desktop.

Just as a note your not running a proper linux O/S on the ee by default, so thats why it doesnt feel like a proper desktop (because its not)
Because of the space limiations (screen size) they use a modifed version of xandros, i belive you can enable full desktop functionaty if you need it though o.0
The normal desktops are much like windows normally in basic operation.
