Asus EEE laptop, Anyone got it?

Has any one got the EEE Asus laptop?

It is tiny and comes with Linux on it

It even has a solid-state drive.

I have seen 2 people at uni have it, and both had installed windows on it, which i think they have ruined it! lol

I just wanted to know what the pre-installed linux OS was like?

You joking? They are a brilliant price for what they are.

I was going to buy one, upgrade it to 1GB RAM and then put a flash card in it to put a bit more space into the baby then unlock the full Linux KDE desktop, maybe install Windows on it.

I can't afford a regular laptop, and I would never use a laptop for gaming, just internet and work. Seems ideal.

Well i would only use it for internet and word processing anyway.

I think its great value, solid state drives are expensive anyway.

It looks brilliant. Im planning on getting one with my birthday money for college and general stuff. The linux operating system shipped is based off Xandros and this poses afew problems since Xandros isnt great at is now pretty out of date. I will be installing eeeXubuntu which is simply Xubuntu specifically designed for the eeepc.

I want to play Counter-Strike Source on it reasonably when im out and about, ive seen people run it on thir Eee and has been fine. It is a regular laptop, just small etc, really its inbetween a tablet and a laptop.
