I think it's 16+, though I'm not entirely sure. I know for use of shotguns and live ammunition you do need a fire-arms certificate. Along with the correct storage facilities for the guns. Though for Co2 or ****-action pellet guns I don't think any certification is needed.

After looking, you have to be 17+ to own a gun.
Air guns are different,
So you don't need to be over 18.* If they are on private property, are older than 14, have the permission of the property owner, and no ammunition is fired outside the property
* If they are with someone older than 21
* As part of an approved rifle club or at a shooting gallery

I have a shotgun and an air rifle, but I don't use them. My dad gave them to me...
I sometimes use my BB gun however.![]()
