Did I say they could fly the aircraft better? - I just said flight simulator is harder than landing in real life, which it is.. I didn't say you could land a plane in real life, it's just easier because everything is there to touch without using a mouse etc!

Depends on their age, anything below 15, ish, then I'd be weary..

You couldn't just go onto a 777 after playing Flight Sim for hours on end and then fly it, perfectly with a perfect landing. You need experience with the aircraft and you need to go on courses etc. If you didn't, why would they have all the courses and such? They'd just stick em on Flight Simulator for 24 hours.

Yeah, I know some pilots practise on Flight Simulator but that doesn't mean you can become an expert pilot from using Flight Sim.
Again, I didn't say that - It's just EASIER in real life to land, most people on here wouldn't have a clue when they stepped in a real plane anyway - Thats not to say its major difficult to land that aircraft.

Not without the permission of the examiner or you'll just get removed from VATSIM lol.

I personally dont use the GPS, but just head into Flight Planner, select both your locations, check IFR and click FIND ROUTE. Then go through all that process, and once airbourne, hit NAV whilst AP is engaged and it should work :]

Sorry if that is wrong, im just doing it from memory.

Fair enough, flying maybe harder but I'd say landing and taking of is the hardest part of flying a plane, the rest of it is just autopilot - correct?
I can't see how possibly Flight Simulator is easier to land that a real plane. You would be under immense pressure, more professional and have tons more functions than Flight Simulator, at the end of the day it's a game. Although you need is a keyboard and a mouse and you can land a plane, although some people use a joystick.

I still don't get how it's easier to land in RL than FS, it's just a game, you are under pressure and all sorts. It would be much more difficult to land in RL than FS for many reasons. ;s

It's alot easier in real life, I can only compare with GA aircraft (PA28).

On flight sim, with a 98% realistic yoke fly a PA28. It's harder to land on flight simulator than it is to fly the same aircraft in real life. Flaps react differently in real life, which is a good thing, you become more stable and are able to control the flare 100% where as flight simulator it can be sketchy.

The aircraft in real life responds immedately to commands, where as flight simulator, although not noticable, takes a while longer - Not a major problem, but compared to real life things happen straight away.

There is no pressure involved with landing a real life plane, I've just confirmed this with a BA Airbus first officer - What pressure do "we" have? - Yes, if you crash in real you can't just restart on the runway, you'd proberbly die - The point im getting at is yes, it is easier in mine and a first officers opinion to land a real life aircraft than it is on flight simulator.

I'm not saying that real life flying takes a hell of a lot more skill, even in a light GA aircraft it certainly does - Once you have training, it becomes second nature. I've done 4 solo flights real life, it's much much easier to do in real life than on flight simulator.

Flight simulator is however good, if you cannot get real life experience, but certainly, real life is the place to be.
