Default Feedback about the debate forum and what is needed

My feedback on the debating forum (again)

I think the official debates is quite good and well run but we are lacking a place to debate non official debates in that forum.
Would it be possible to have a public debate forum as a subforum next to the finished debates? this way you can move any really good debates to the official Hx debates area for us to discuss. At the minute its turning into a debate in the suggest a debate thread. I think something is needed and this would stop people ruining that thread and even though I know i should not be debating there I cant help posting because we have no place for public debates unless the management say we can and start a debate. We could post it in discuss anything or spam but most the threads in those forums go off topic pretty quickly but not in the debates forum. This would be a simple fix that has been asked for over and over and for some reason still gets ignored. I am not saying you have to choose a debate from the public sub-forum and i know some fools would add pathetic things to debate but they would soon die out and the good strong debates continue. Would their be any harm in a sub forum next to the closed debates? give it a weeks trial? if you won't would it be possible for somebody to explain why not? we had 3 club tropica forums (not sub forums) that were not wanted by most and not needed but still forced upon us so why not this after it being suggested many times over the last couple of years.
We currently have a princess diana debate which is a great topic but i think exhausted over the years and i cant even be bothere to give my views on it for the 12th time but a public debate forum would give you much more of an idea what we want to discuss and you would not have to move the public debate you could always re write it and then start it again in the official debates.

Give it a chance and I am sure you wont regret it

We've tried to tell this to senior management before but they were totally against it for some reason even though 99.9% of the members wanted it.

I know well remember we have a new forum manager who seems to be getting along pretty well so if he also agrees he could put our point over a sub forum next to the finished debates is well out the way and not going to cause any problems at all. If they are worried about a mod for it i am sure there would be a number of people who would offer their services who are well respected and trusted members of the forums.
They cant keep ignoring an issue that would improve the forums.
If they reply theres discuss anything to use I suggest we wipe out every forum and discuss everything in the discuss anything and yes that is sarcastic.

You have no idea how many threads along these lines i myself have posted, never loan the ones by many other users who feel the same. For some inexplicable reason the incredibly obvious benifits and lack of any real downside dont appear to be taken in to concideration on this issue.
Habbox even used to have this... it worked well until it was removed, with the current system in replacament.

I have seen loads of threads but admit i did have a bit of time away so missed many more. Surely its worth a trial at least just to see how well it works? if its a total failure then dump anything from the sub forum into the spam and thats the end of it.

Definitely, im all for it. Im just disheartened by the absurd dismissal this issue has repeatedly received. A proper "open" debates forum would be a massive improvement to the forum. Id likely start using this one more frequently again rather than venturing to places like wis.dm to actually get some proper debating done.

In the World News forum debates have started and then been closed. Infact just like debates are closed in this forum and all forums. Can I ask Management; WHY CAN WE NOT DEBATE?

Yeah, I think this work well as long as people didn't get too heated with their debating. With close moderation this would run smoothly. What are their reasons for not allowing this?

what's wrong with heated debating, if you want to debate be prepared to debate, if you wana go suck your thumb in the corner and cry every time someone disagrees with you, go do that and dont look at the forum. It needs no more moderation than any other part of the forum.

    Its simple enough.

Maybe it doesn't concern you directly but if you had looked around the forums you would see people go over the top with swearing. When I said heated debating I meant more people struggling to get their point across and reverting to abuse of the people against them. I think we both know this would happen. Therefore IN MY OPINION it would need closer moderation

    It's simple enough.
