As mentioned before I think all banned members should be designated a forum where they can appeal their bans.

Yes I presume you are no longer checking your own then
I feel that this is probably even more important now under an automatic ban proposal and will be vital for the justice of the system. What worries me is that people could be cautioned/banned before they are checked. Under the present system the Smod actually looks at the infractions/warning and uses their undividual judgment to assess the appropriate penalty.
Sorry?
They will get checked, I check all the ones I possibly can and if there are some unchecked then I ask other super mods to do it. We assess the penalty based on infraction count usually so it won't be that much of a change.I feel that this is probably even more important now under an automatic ban proposal and will be vital for the justice of the system. If I have it right though it's not the infractions but the cautions that maybe a problem.Sorry?
I remember when you first started you were checking your own infraction complaints

5 Warnings - Automatic Caution (7 days)
5 Infractions - Automatic 7 day ban
10 Infractions - Automatic Perm ban
Depending on the new system and I have to assume that double posting will still be a warning somebody new to the forum could be cautioned within a day. There used to be contingencies for new members but it doesn't seem that there will be any flexibility at all now? Hope I am wrong about this.
If we suspect it's brand new member (no past accounts) we'll be less harsh when it comes to punishments. For example, if a new member double posts then I'd simply merge the posts and send a polite PM informing them of what they've done wrong and not to do it again. That said, I'd still give normal members a warning if I felt the multiple posting was deliberate. If I have it right though it's not the infractions but the cautions that maybe a problem.

Glad to hear the the new members ( i.e. really new members) will still be given some leeway. If we suspect it's brand new member (no past accounts) we'll be less harsh when it comes to punishments. As nice as that sounds, I very much doubt that'll actually happen.; that a new member will be let of easy, because we are fully aware now that some moderators, although have no real bad intentions, will not check the join date.If we suspect it's brand new member (no past accounts) we'll be less harsh when it comes to punishments. I probably shouldn't be hijacking this thread, but since it's been mentioned I might aswell ask... ain't aimed at you by the way either, just quoting you since you mentioned it.If we suspect it's brand new member (no past accounts) we'll be less harsh when it comes to punishments. Why infract/warn people for petty things like double posting? It isn't exactly going to make people feel welcome and what not. Isn't the whole point of moderators to help members along with things, not to go about specifically looking for the slighest mistakes that members are making just so they can warn/infract them (again, not aimed at you specifically but plenty of mods on here have that idea).
On two other forums I go on, they still have a large majority of the same rules on this forum, but they are alot more relaxed about things and the mods very rarely leave infractions/warnings, they only ever use their powers to merge posts without issuing warnings or anything - and I'm probably right in saying that is why they're 2/3 times the size of this forum and alot more civilised.
Each to their own though, I suppose... Feel free to move/delete or whatever you fancy doing.
Each moderator is different. I would normally only warn someone for multiple posting for three+ posts unless it was quite obviously deliberate. To be honest, that's just me personally and if other moderators warn for doubles then that's up to them. People often double post accidentally and what I have to remember is that we're only human and we, as humans make mistakes from time to time.
Everything else you've said can only be answered by the (Forum) (Assistant) (General) Managers since they're the people who make the rules; we, as moderators, are only employed to enforce the rules!![]()
Contact form us the worst thing too use
Id appeal for my autoban but I'm not because I got haters in the management (Elkaa)
I don't even know the reason I got autobanned, I just made a account called rolexsweep (liked the name) recieved 2 infractions then got autobanned. :S But yeah no point using the contact us form, if you got hatred in the management they'll just reject your appeal straight awayId rather tell Sierk
My post will probably be deleted soon. Id be banned soon too.
