yep pushing down does work, my lg chocolate had a problem like this, pushing down hard on the keypad made the connection better again, but then it went completely white and I had to take it apart and push the connector back in. Works perfect now

Another more permanent way would be if you can remove the casing for the screen which is probably not possible and see where the loose wire is and mabe tape it.
