I deal with most of them because they come up when I use the 'New Posts' search so I see them before the other moderators.
So a common phrase is bad? Tom, "Richard" and Harry is a common phrase and isn't rude, and it isn't swearing so it doesn't break rule A2 because it isn't swearing, and the filter is only there to "substitute the letters of swear words" so no, it's not against the rules. It's a case of the filter is filtering a word which isn't a swear word, it's filtering a phrase.

Also, people are posting swear words and possibly unfiltering them themselves because it is allowed in the feedback forum within reason, they are just going through a funny way of doing that.

FURTHERMORE it hasn't been mentioned anywhere that LM*AO is a bad word, because the swearing rules says "and other similar variations which are allowed, even though one of the letters in the word is filtered" so technically you can't pass judgement when the A word shouldn't be filtered (unless Habbox filter that word, which would be one of the silliest things ever to happen on Habbox.com). Because, as you mentioned, you are not in the position to deal with swear words because you're only a moderator, so that abbreviation could be seen as appropriate, because it is appropriate on Habbox.com otherwise it would not of appeared.

Jamie, there is a general lack of common sense and judgement.
Personally I think Forum Management should check the infraction appeal results. Its not all black and white. Seriously a while ago somebody got an infraction for calling Channel 4 crap. What on earth is the point on infracting posts where the offending word is used in a perfectly logical and non-sexual context and would cause no offence to anybody at all?

Some people might work for Channel 4.

I'm happy to get a member of management to check them. Super moderators have checked them and signed them off. People are just reporting them for the sake of it now, and getting nowhere because they aren't unfair.

What is perceived to be fair is not necessarily fair or appropriate in the circumstances and quite honestly Smods do not like overturning anothers infraction/warning. It is easier not too in case the person infracting originally throws their toys out of the pram. I used to check with a AFM or FM. To follow the rules absolutely with no analysis or logical reasoning behind it is worse in my opinion than being too lenient. You are not actually judged on the quality of your work just the quantity which I feel is a failing in your line management.

Like I say, I've pointed Elkaa this way to clarify the status of that paticular rule in the case of giving examples in this forum, but as far as I know it's allowed. I wouldn't bother reporting it until he posts though. If you used it in any other context, i.e. aiming it at someone, it would be a valid infraction with no doubt.

Totally agree, I mean when I say: fpsc I can think of something that this forum would find offensive... and there's numerous other things that it could mean which aren't offensive...

Meh, I think abbreviations shouldn't be filtered.

It's the word that one of the abbreviated letters stands for which is filtered. We are given instructions to warn or infract posts which contain these, so there's no point in moaning at the moderators (that's aimed at everyone who is doing, not you in particular) about the rules being 'unfair' - we are just doing what we are assigned to do.
