    i consider 10kb/s as fast, my torrents usually hover around 0.5 - 3.0kb/s.

    Are you meaning Mbps or MB/s there's a big difference.

    The UK is slowly falling behind with internet speeds, they are definitely not second. There was a report posted on the BBC news site, I think, about how the UK is one of the slowest countries for average internet speed.

    Also, I agree, my torrents always hang around 0.5kb/s - 5 kb/s but I get the rare one that shoots to about 400kb/s. :@

    Shoudn't make much difference. There will be less users, but there will be less equipment and less capacity so the contention should be similar.
