It does make sense, however in my opinion, international football is suffering because of it.

Compared to what Arsenal can afford, and bring to the club it is. Surely they could tempt a real top class midfielder? And someone who is instantly great and like hub said, not become great in 3 years time.

Arsenal have more than 1 english player in the first team squad. He is nearly always on the bench and that is Justin hoyte. Also, Gavin Hoyte (Justins brother) is in the first squad. You just dont see them as much, but even though i support Arsenal, whats the point in having 6/7 english players that cannot play football, (not saying anything about united players) when you can get 6/7 young international players for half the price who are great?

Kick racism out of football and all you ever hear is - Arsenal only buy foreign players. Well its true but who cares? Jealous much?

Considerring the majority of Arsenals youth/reserve team is British, aswell as having the Hoyte brothers in the first team (and now Ramsey), I wouldn't say they have too little British players.

International football isn't suffering. English football is apparently 'suffering'. When I don't see any problems for English football. The whole of the first team, second team and U21 team are generally from the top flight.

It's a non-problem as far as I'm concerned, just an excuse and a way to shift the blame away from grassroots football. That is where the real problems are.

That isn't the Arsenal way and I applaud the fact that they want nurture talent. It's better than joining the boom and spending £50m in every transfer window.

Yeah but I don't rate youth or reserve at all. Not just arsenals youth or reserve but every youth or reserve. and to your point about Ramsey, thats exactly what I said in my first post. "Atleast he's British." I was applauding Arsenal on that.

I can't see how really great players will emerge unless they get to play with other really great players like the players at the big four. So maybe suffering was the wrong word but maybe hampering. Because you get players like Dean Ashton or Gabriel Agbonlahor who are good but could do with taking the next step to a real contender in Europe so they experience big matches.

Well thats fair enough but it almost looks like Arsenal become a feeder club, just a club who buys young players, nurture them, make them great then sell them on. But hey, what do I know.

Sorry if someone's pointed this out, but with all the class players Arsenal have what are the chances of him getting a starting place.

Hleb, Flamini and Rosicky have either left or are supposed to be leaving.

    He has officially signed now.

The only reason why people are saying the influx of foreign players into the Premiership is ruining English football is because England are rubbish at international football. On paper, England are probably the best team in the world, however, on the field they just don't play well together.

This is the reason, in my opinion, why Arsenal do not have many English players in their side. I mean, look at Liverpool, trying to capture Gareth Barry and Villa want £18m for him. What's the point in that when Arsenal are getting Nasri for £12m and he's much younger and much more talented but he's not English.

    I couldn't agree more.

If it wasn't for these foreign players, the Premier League wouldn't be like it is now. People like Gerrard and Lampard wouldn't be playing against the likes of Ronaldo every week. England's national team wouls suffer more without the foreign players as how well English teams do in Europe is a factor of ranking. If Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool weren't doing well, England wouldn't be that high in the rankings.
