It's the way Sakurai created the game I think. Mario Kart Wii actually works quite well online so if Smash was delayed it could've had similar results.

Someone said the poor online was because Nintendo Wi-Fi recognises the freeloader.

I'm trading my DS Lite in so: Mario Kart Wii + SSBB + Star Wars Battlefront: Regenade Squadron (PSP) + Something else.

I can see why people hate the WiFi but I think it isnt that bad. It takes about a minuite to get everyone into a game but after that you can keep playing with the same people and you only have to wait 20 Seconds before the game starts. While you wait you can practice your moves aswell. I think I prefer it to MK WiFi.
