Seems like a bad feature for a reasonably sized forum like HxF, and even worse for forums with about 100 users per thread at one time in busy hours

Were you talking about the rate thread option? It doesn't take up any room.
I have just voted this thread good and it just shows as a star. If you are talking about the amount of people who have visited the thread is agree with you and I can't really see any purpose in it at the moment.

Users who have viewed the thread The star feature seems to serve no point, I rarely see it used!
