    That was a CRAP explanation
But, that means everything has to be spoilered from TV, if I don't watch the TV or visit any news sites...

So if someone posted that the Titanic sunk because of an iceberg, they'd have to spoiler it because someone might not have seen the film (and not realise it was based on a true story...)

IMO All Information in the BB forum should be spoilered unless it has been shown on either the Channel 4 Catch up show or if it has been shown on the eviction show.

In the television section, anything that has been revealed before a program aires should be in spoilers and if somebody has downloaded a program that was aired somewhere else before it was aired in the uk then that also should be spoilered...

But Hopefully the Prof Will Read this

If ALL information is spoilered, then surely a big, bold warning in the forum description should be "WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS" which will make it easier than getting everyone to post their findings in spoilers? I don't get why the spoiler tags exists, when thread titles are a giveaway and if you don't want to know what happened in Doctor Who or Big Brother, then you simply don't check the forums :S

I agree with most of the above and I pmed Professor-Alex about this a few days ago. I don't see why every post in a thread has spoilers in it, a simple "this thread contains spoilers" in the title should do. When people see the warning in the title, they will know the thread has spoilers and will avoid it. If they open a thread which has "SPOILERS" in the title then it's their own fault if they see spoilers. I also think it is getting out of hand.

The rule definitely needs reviewing in my opinion.

I typed up a massive long reply to this thread last night but my net decided to cut out before I hit the post button

For as long as spoiler tags have been on the forum, people have been "asked" to put spoiler tags in their threads via a stuck thread in the relavent entertainment forums. There have, however, been no black-and-white criteria for what constitutes a spoiler tag and what doesn't. As someone earlier in the thread said, leaving it down to common sense seemed the best thing to do at the time, but as everyones' interpretation of the rule seems to be different (both between moderators, and between members/mods) it's impossible to please everyone in that respect.

It seems sensible to draw up some sort of concrete rule as to where spoiler tags should be used and where they shouldn't be used. I'm extremely happy to receive any input, this is a draft:

[*] Big Brother forum - If the information has been aired on the 10PM C4 programme, it doesn't need to be inside spoiler tags. Otherwise - it does.[*] Films forum - Any major plot points about a film currently in cinemas should be in spoiler tags.[*]Television forum - Any major plot points about a television programme that hasn't been aired (ie. information received from other media) should be in spoiler tags.[*]Anime - Any major plot points about an anime or manga that hasn't been released yet (ie. information received from other media) should be in spoiler tags. I don't know how common this is in anime/manga.
    That seem sensible?

It's not live really. They show the days highlights later on.

I think you should get better spoilers, you can't c+p from the current spoilers we have.

The draft looks good. Although with Big Brother not everything is shown in the highlights so I think it would be better if it was like "major" story lines should be in spoilers. Although major could be mis-interpreted by different people. Will there be any guidelines for catch up shows?

That is how I interpreted it I think it is probably the best way to go about it

How could un-aired BB exist? What's in newspapers is information that won't effect the viewing pleasure of someone watching it on TV. Big Brother can't really have anything spoilerable. If you've missed a live show, then avoid the BB forums for information, it's your fault for spoiling it for yourself, really "/
