Mayyybe you could apply to be a "group leader" and be given special permissions to set up your own group if you're successful. That'd definately cut down on the spam groups AND make you feel important GO BRAINWAVES

I definitely think that if groups are implemented they should only be created on a request/accept basis, ie member requests to create a group and that has to be accepted by admin/management before the group is made, so you'd have to have a genuine reason for the group to be set up.

Social groups atm are simply not worth enabling. vBulletin 3.8 will improve social groups quite a bit as you will be able to have social group discussions a bit similar to Habbo home topics. We can then re-evaulate our decision on enabling them or not. They might still be too isolated to have any good use.
